Im wanting to get one of my blocks bored. I want to spend as little as I have to but still get a good job. Where do you guys go to get this done? About how much does it cost? The block is a Dodge 383. Thanks

you want to look at the fixture they use also

most machine shops index off the pan rail this is fine most of the time, but it moves the cylinders over in the direction of the wear

ideally you want the machine to fixture from the main journal so it goes in at exactly 90 degrees it costs more but its woth it in longevity and cylinder balance
