ReconRat
Shell Oil released this video and news on November 24, 2008. On November 11, 2007, a Shell Oil company deep sea ROV (remotely operated vehicle) filmed this critter at a depth of 2.5 kilometers, in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a seldom seen species of squid, although this one is new to science with it's "bent elbows". It's fairly big, I'm not sure how big yet. I doubt it knew it could be seen, the video is probably night vision enhanced type. It appears to be standing (floating) there watching... If you haven't ever read about these critters, they are considered to be very intelligent.http://www.scienceray.com/Biology/Marine-Biology/Discovery-Alien-of-the-Deep.366677youtube video (worth watching, it's pretty creepy):http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=z81I4L5jRXI
ReconRat
A little help reading the data, the ROV is floating at 7828 feet depth, with the bottom 14 feet below it at 7842 feet depth.

Harb67
Squids freak me right the fuck out. No thank you to that. I don't care how intelligent it is; unless it can get us out of this financial crisis, I'm squashing it the second it pokes its head out of the water. DangBruhY
The guy controlling the camera looked like he was the same guy who films night time street races. Never focusing on the interesting things, but instead allowing it/them to get out of the frame of the camera. The video was short as hell as well. What's up with that?Cool points distribution+1 cool aquatic species-5 camera man
