wnaplay1647545503
I am redoing my gas tank(inside, cleaning & sealing) and have found enough information to do it right but I am also planning on sandblasting the outside. Once finished, should I paint it, apply an outside sealer or leave it alone? Thanks
Vander
If you drive it in the winter I would recommend Dupli-color undercoat. It comes in a spray can. If you only drive it in the summer then just paint it.
heelside1647545510
do the undercoat stuff, idk what its called but its designed to keep rust off of your under carriage, forget the paint idea, this stuff would work a lot better, you can pick it up at advanced auto for cheap

Guest Removed
Are you guys suggesting rubberized undercoating? yep! In dad's radiator shop, after we repaired a gas tank, we always hit it with our special radiator paint! use some primer sealer on it, then under coat it and it should be good to go! Dave1647545494
make sure you paint the tank with a sealer before you undercoat it or it will rust really fast.... I suggest paint eastwood makes paint just for gastanks
wnaplay1647545503
Looking for something I can buy locally since I am impatient. I sealed the inside last night. The outside is rusty. I was going to sandblast it but. 1 our sandblaster at work sucks, and 2. I'm not sure it would stand up to being blasted. I know they make paint that you can paint directly over rust so I will spray that on first and then undercoat. I thought about calling ziebart and asking them how much it would be to rhinoline the tank the next day thier doing a truck bed and already have the stuff out.
