I need a drag chute...

So i was looking through the jegs catalough and spotted the parachutes and read the discription and started to think...

 

There equation says that you take the weight of the car in pound, multiply that by your trap speed, and divide by one thousand, and thats your index number for what size chute you need.

 

So i did the volvo...

 

3125 x 88

--------- = 275

1000

 

So the Super Gas chute, is for cars with an index of 248 and lower...

 

What the fuck?

You planning on dropping your Volvo out of an air plane? If not, why are you getting a chute?

 

In no dimension on any planet do i need a chute... i just think its crazy that my 15sec 4dr has an index higher than a Super Gas car... Youd think theyd rate them on a better system.

do the math with a door car at race weight! around 2500 lbs..

 

mph 160-200 mph range.. and depending on my cars wieght.. i need 2 chute's.

you dont have enough MPH to even need one..but if you did, you would need 2!

 

 

and a standard rule of thumb for a chute! not a jegs standard.

 

god damn it i know i dont need one for like the third time... i just think its amusing.

I was indicating that according to the index, i needed one, but i know i dont. Dont you have a cage to finish ;)

cage is done..... :p:D

 

all the sheet metal work back there is done except the rear fire wall!

 

 

about too start on the engine compartment, once thats done...on too painting!

 

and who say's im not on the laptop out in my garage? :p

Sweet. are you tubing up the front clip or clearancing for headers or what?

i have some trick ideas up my sleeve. you'll just have to wait for pics like everyone else!

 

only clue you'll get is smooth, and not alot of wiring will be seen. and some things will be made removable.but i still have to mate the engine and trans together, and set them back in (1" farther back) and check clearnace's on a few things.

Its pretty much stock... only 205 hp and 265 lbft... i think the turbo is going out, it wont hold boost on the big end for shit... only like 10psi.

 

Oh, I thought there was talk of putting a t04e or something on there a while back.

Just assumed you got to it :)

 

Oh well, still enough to travel back in time in the 1/4 mile ;)

Well i still have the T4, fabbing up a manifold to make it work is the hard part. Then tuning it... ugh... its a mess of work with this flippin car. Why cant it be easy... like a civic?

Yup nothing it easy, and I value my warranty too much.

I'll stick to suspension mods for now.

Hey Nick why does your car need a chute..

 

so i can deploy at high speed... i figure id try that move that Will Smith did in Independence day with the parachute and blinding the alien guy so he crashes... i figure thats the only way ill ever beat anyone around here :D
