What is the difference between a autox and rallycross ?

Autocross in on pavement around cones. Rallycross is in a field around cones ;)

EDIT: Still limited to hardtop cars, no trucks or pickups

Thanks for putting this up Joe, I think I have ray talked into doing this in his subaru as we have nothing else to run in it until they let me use the pathfinder!!

Just so you know, you DON'T have to have an awd car to do this, thay have fwd classes and cars like neons and others are actually pretty good for it, I'd bring the laser but it's setup for asphalt though the dsm's are good cars for it wether awd, or wwd.

hmmmm I've still got the hardtop for the miata. Will there be any large trucks around to pull the miata out if it gets stuck in a footprint, on a root, or on a comparatively large obstruction?

It's a grassy field, nothing to get stuck on and no obstructions.

It's a miata. I was pointing out how terrible it would behave on a rough off road surface and how any small detail could cause it to get stuck.

Satire fails on the internet - sorry :(

Seriously though, I'm considering this event. Rallycross has always sounded like an absolute blast.

I'll be there in the Impreza Outback. Also, as the autocross was mentioned, I'll be there as well in the MX-5.

I did a WOR rallycross event a couple weeks ago in the Escort and finished...how did Pete put it? "first non-white Golf running rally tires in Stock FWD" Even in that automatic Escort, I had a blast and only got a Subaru because of the utility aspect of it for my new job.

Hope to see lots of ppl out there.
