Lustalbert
Sounds like a pissed off weedeater losing an argument with a jet. So, what is up with the side of the engine being on fire at the end of the dyno pull? Is that normal for a rotary? I thought they only ejected apex seals, not fire as well. rl
i just mortgaged my house and placed an order for one...they said it should be here by April. Thats a great way to catch a FD on fire, good choice.

SPLN SUX
yea that would botther me if fire was coming out of my engine... bad gasket i guess... needs to be decked and resealed.
V8 Beast
Come on guys, thats he fire that will come out of the exhaust after they hit the naws!!! Please reference Need For Speed video games.
Trjackson
what is a 4 rotor? The rx-7 has only 2 rotors(cylinders), well this motor has 4 of them. 4 rotors, 4 housings, 12 apex seals. You get the idea. Jackson

You get the idea. Jackson description = fail think of rotors as modules, you have a rotor and a housing, and then the apex seals that are like a headgasket for a piston motor, they seal the outside rotor edges to the housing... now picture four housings stacked one behind each other, 4 rotors interconnected via outputshaft... SpaceGhost
Impressive. http://lolinter.net/apexseals.gif 4 rotor is like a 12 cylinder engine correct?
Stanello
No, it would be like 4 oranges compared to 12 apples. They're both fruit, and that's about it.
V8 Beast
No its actually 4 grapes compared to 7 cherries. You guys dont know anything about fruit with respect to engines
rl
No, it would be like 4 oranges compared to 12 apples. They're both fruit, and that's about it. Give him more credit than that; the motor does fire 12 times per cycle. It's just missing some critical peices to be compared with a "normal" engine. Stanello
They both have 12 combustion chambers... but the whole geometry is completely different. You can't really compare the two. Ex: This engine would be a 7.8L 12 cylinder, with a 6.54" bore and a 1.18" stroke that made a complete cycle after 3 crankshaft revolutions. Guest GMoney
The fire is an exhaust leak, from a poor mainfold manufacture or design. At temp the exhaust is either blowing by the gasket from pressure or the manifold is warping/lifting from pressure/heat.
