6 Speed S4
I have two rear deck 6 1/2'' bose speakers for my audi that need repaired. I was wondering if anyone did this at a reasonable price?
GonneVille
Music Man on High Street. They did good work when I broke a Pioneer sub's tinsel lead. Took a little while to get it back, but they get my endorsement.
Trouble Maker
Lol... did the surrounds separate from the cone?
thorne
are the bose that good?
6 Speed S4
Im not sure what exactly is wrong with them but they put out no bass what so ever. The reason I want to stick with the bose speakers is because replacing the stock head unit is a pain and no aftermarket speakers sound good with the bose unit. HAOLE
There is an old saying in the car audio field. "No highs, no lows....must be Bose!"

stolen 5.0
Your problem is that they are bose and 2nd, bose really doesn't produce any good bass
6 Speed S4
I'm not really worried about bass with these speakers I just want them to not rattle and sound like crap. I have a 10'' fosgate sub wired in on the stock amp so I just want sound quality without switching out the head unit.
HAOLE
I don't see why you cant just replace the speakers. That will most likely be the cheapest way to go, and should not compromise sound quality.
Big Steve
Replace the Bose, get some boston acoustics! You can thank me later, repair will run you the same as replacing.
turbomark
The thing is that bose car audio systems usually run as a 1 or 2 ohm system making it quite difficult to replace them by themselves without replacing the head unit as well as the amp. It's basically an all or nothing deal. If you can figure out the resistance of the stock speakers then you can attempt to find a set that matches them and replace them with that, but that's going to be tough in a 4 ohm world. Thank you for that info.... I was unaware of that. I have not worked in Car audio since I was 20, my info is outdated I guess.
Big Steve
The speakers will work fine with the factory head unit. Will not pump the way you might want it, but none the less it will still sound good!
6 Speed S4
I did replace the speakers with 6 1/2'' infinity reference 2.65 OHM and they sound like absolute shit. Thats why I went back to the route of repairing the stock ones. I have been looking on audiforums for a used pair in good shape but they are hard to come by. stolen 5.0
did u measure the resistance across the speaker or find out how many ohms it is across it? I work at a high end audio place and may be able to help you find a speaker if I don't have one available.
turbomark
You could always use an aftermarket amp using speaker level input and just run regular speakers.

6 Speed S4
I'm good enough with car audio to figure it out myself, I've done the system in my celica (with help), and in my audi I installed a line output converter to the stock bose amp and added a sub and amp to that. I actually just found a pair of used bose rear decks and picked them up for $50 in good working order so hopefully these last a few years and now I won't have to pay $150+ for speaker repair. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and info.
