Akula
do any of you guys use usb to serial for something like a console connection to networking gear? If so, what program do you use to interface with it? I love SecureCRT but they don't make it for OSX.
Casper
http://putty.darwinports.com/ This is what I use for ssh connections. Its just a port of Putty for Mac 10.5.

REAL pc users use 3rd party apps like Putty too. But you could use Terminal on the Mac. It comes with it.

Akula
I can SSH natively from terminal on the mac (not on a PC) but I need to be able to do a serial connection. Yes, most PCs ship with Hyperterminal that will do it (but it sucks). I need an application that will allow me to run scripting across a serial connection so I can rapidly configure CLI on some networking gear.
