There's only so many ways you can shape a cruiser, form follows function. Get the fuck over yourself already. HD is a horrible machine, the Japs are not tryi g to copy them, I assure you.Then to Dave's point, they copied the HD VROD form to obtain their function.In all honesty, the only HD I would ever consider owning is the VROD. When I decide to pick up a touring bike it will be the BMW K1200GT or similar. Lucky for all of us the HD airheads are an endangered species (thank you EPA). Usually those people are just in it for the "lifestyle". Most of the people I've ridden with have Harleys and put on some serious miles in nearly all weather. They don't give a shit about what I ride and I don't about their ride, hop on it and go if it makes you happy.The ElectraGlide and RoadKing can eat up highway miles as well as a 'Wing or a BMW 1200 and the low speed handling would surprise you.I've read the sales figures for them over the last few years and they make Billions from bike sales, but only about $250 million from merchandise, that's still a lot. The other companies could take a lesson on marketing from them. I'd consider the Ulysses XT(yea, I know it's a Buell). 100hp, no chain or valve maintenence, able to handle the twisties and go the distance. That's a nice combination. When I lost my front tire due to a blow-out on my Suzuki Intruder 1400, a very nice cruiser which I no longer have, an older gentleman stopped by and let me use his cell, which helped out a great deal. He rode a Harley but that day he had his truck. At a gas station a few Harley riders gathered around my 600RR and checked it at a bit, commenting that it had alot or torque, which was true. It's all about the road, really. As long as your on it with two wheels, you're good. Some dude on a Sportster tried to race me in a roll-on when I was riding my 600RR. Iused to ride ricers and have for a long time because I could not justify the expense and have been riding since the mid 70s at 14 years old starting on Norton 850 Commando which is more bike than a lot of you pussies could handle, must be why you were riding mopeds until you were 16.I wonder why rice cruisers seem to look the other way when i pull up beside them at a light , never done anything to them, maybe they are embarassed about the way the feel and wish they had a Hd but would rather bash one until they get on one for real instead of riding a copy of what they wish they could ride. I can't stand ricer cars with fart can exhaust tips.I like fast bikes with amazing overall performance too so that's why I have a sportbike.I also like some HD and other cruisers too, but I'm not going to get offended by someone bashing sportbikes like you did. It's dumb. Like what you like and get over it if someone bashes your brand of bike. I just shake my head and go on. It's worthless to try to change their mind because it's already made up. If you prefer your ass in the air and your head cocked as if being shot from a cannon the go for it, when you get done riding for the day and waiting for the feeling to come back to your balls I bet the ole lady is next door getting her rocks off from the neighbor .
