Problem with Thorne's laptop

I have a USB 802.11g dongle that I installed when I got the computer, but now it wont recognize it. In situations like this, I would usually just plug it into another USB port and windows would magically recognize it again, but Thorne's only has 1. What should I do?

Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager. See if it is listed under network adapters, if it is, delete and reinstall the driver software for the dongle.

that might work.

been there, done that. after I delete the device, and plug it back in, it recognizes is as a generic USB Device. Port works, I ran the drivers for it off of a flash drive.
