tristanlee85
My wallet and space for storing this is limited so I'm not looking for an all-out machine that will remove lug nuts and beat me off. I'm just looking for something I'll use from time to time. I'm looking to spend around $100 and since I got some gift cards for Christmas, I've been looking at this. I know it's nothing big as I heard many people don't buy anything below 7 gallons, but will I be disappointed if I get this to use on lug nuts and other random crap? Hell I don't even know what I'd use it for other than that. I've survived thing long without one, but I figure it may come handy sometime. Opinions please. AJ
it will take off 1 lug nut if that. i had one and it was worthless. 10 is the least you should look for. i have a 30 and hate using it because it cycles so much.
evil8
For a hundred bones, find a used compressor with more capacity. That little beeotch will just piss you off.

Dave1647545494
if you just want to change an occasional tire its ok if your going to do much else its worthless I have a 20 or a 30 and it runs pretty hard just doing hobby stuff
Putty
I got a nice 3 gallon one from Depot for 50 buckets. Came with nail gun and some other crap. Should be good enough to do what you want. Check there. I saw one the other day for just over a 100. Think it's like 3 1/2 or 4 gallon. TA In Progress
I have a 25 or 30 gallon (can't remember right now) Craftsman, and when I'm using the DA or a grinder it runs quite a bit, sometimes almost constantly. Even when I'm using the impact or an air ratchet a lot it runs frequently. You'd be way better off saving up, or like someone else said, find a used one. Lustalbert
Ebay, search only witin a comfy distance of your zip code. Have seen some decent ones go cheap, as no one wants to pay shipping to send it across the country. Plus you get to check it out in person when you pay for it. Dr. Apex
Hell, my 5 gallon tank(no compressor) is barely enough on somedays of autocross to adjust my tire pressures, that thing will run constantly.
tristanlee85
Is a Craftsman 450ft/lb gun a bad decision?
AJ
forward or reverse? this is the one i have. its made by IR http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00919905000P?vName=Tools&cName=Compressors+%26+Air+Tools&sName=Automotive+Air+Tools
tristanlee85
I'm sure it's forward that's 450. I can hold the socket still with my hand in reverse, but not forward.
AJ
then its worthless, reverse is where you need the torque.
tristanlee85
I noticed. Return time. I couldn't even remove the bolt on my timing chain gear. That's like 50 ft/lbs.
tristanlee85
I'll probably just return the crap and go with electric tools. I don't have any room for anything that's bigger.
AJ
i'll sell you my Matco electric 1/2 impact with 2 batterys lol
verse
I'll probably just return the crap and go with electric tools. I don't have any room for anything that's bigger. Electric tools are alot more expensive than air powered tools. I think my Snap-On 1/2" Cordless Impact was $450ish and my composite IR 1/2" was like $280. But hell I use my IR 3/8" ($320ish) impact to take off cam bolts on Saturns everyday. I have a 30G Husky that I use in the driveway, it works well enough and I got it for free during a spiff at work. AJ I had that gun a few years back and had so many problems with it, returned it twice before I bought my IR.
tristanlee85
Cost isn't an issue really, it's the space I have. I'd just rather not spend $400 on air tools like I just did that can't remove a lugnut.
Clifford Automotive
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00916638000P?vName=Tools&cName=Compressors+%26+Air+Tools I just bought this one for my dad for Christmas. He just does the occasional tire fill and thats it. It was only 139.00 in the store though.

Guest Hal
Is a Craftsman 450ft/lb gun a bad decision? Go to Sears and get the IR Titanium gun. It's on sale for ~$240 right now, and it's one of the best you can buy. 1000 ft/lb FTW.
