Rally Pat
That would be the way to go, but seriously speaking, don't install XP 64. I had it on my Core 2 desktop for a while, and there were so many programs that didn't work correctly with it, like the UT3 demo, Armagetron Advanced, the Halo 2 XP loader, and some other stuff. In addition, it crashed pretty often. I went back to XP 32 and I haven't had a problem since.
Bird69
ok cool. thanks. i'm pretty new to 64 bit, i should have just stuck to what i know, but hind sight is 20/
Rally Pat
The whole 64 bit thing is just something to make Microsoft money. Unless you are doing serious server stuff, 32 bit Windows will do you just fine.
Bird69
ok, next question, i go to shrink my partition to make a new volume, i can only shrink it a gig. know how i can shrink it more for the xp partition?
Rally Pat
Sorry I didnt see this sooner. There has to be a reason why it isnt letting you shrink it anymore than that. How much stuff is on your Hard Drive?
Nitrousbird
http://gparted-livecd.tuxfamily.org/ I used that on one of my PC's to shrink down my XP partition enough to install Vista. Works great.
Bird69
Pat: it's ok, i don't live on here either. it's a 300 gig w/ 182 gigs free, i've tried windows disk management, arconis disk director and i'm going to try Joe's here after it burns the iso. Joe: thanks man, i'll give it a shot
