nurkvinny
Went with Sirius and picked up a Sportster 5 yesterday (gay name, BTW). Love it so far. Just using a cassette adaptor I had laying around for now. Clear as day. http://www.carbuyersnotebook.com/SP5_R.jpg
SamZman
I absolutely love Sirius... well Stern. I got my g/f a portable S50 last year even though she didnt ask for it.. She really didnt care at first and I felt like I wasted money, but now she is totally hooked too. We took it on our trip to Florida last year and her Sirius broke after we got down there(was replaced free under warranty). We were both thinkin no big deal at first..but then driving around down there and all the way back without it was torture!

I have the Sporster Replay (I upgraded from the Sporster to it the week it came out), but that's awesome looking. Too bad they changed cradles, or I'd upgrade to it. I have too many car kits to be changing out units.

ImUrOBGYN
I don't care whether I hear Stern or not. Having said that, I haven't any of the problems others have had with XM radio. Neither has my gf or best friend. Occasionally, if you use the FM tuner, you may have a bit of static if you don't have it set on an unused station. I have had no experience with Sirius so I cannot comment. However, when they first came out, I had decided on XM due to stations, etc. That may've changed by now. I'm just hoping they merge then I won't have to worry about it.
SpaceGhost
when they merge you will have to buy new equipment to hear any sirius stations and same for us to hear any XM programing.

SpaceGhost
That stinks. You did the conversion on your STi to elimate the windshield mount didn't you? Kinda, I have an 05 that didn't have any compatibility. SO I bought a 07 radio and the Aux jack that comes with it for my iPhone. Since I don't already have the antenna cable ran in the a pillar, I just bought a Monster brand Sirius antenna that has a 21 foot cord and mounted it on top over the rear window. The radio plugs right in and uses the same harness connector as the 05 radio. I just had to buy the Subaru Sirius Brain. I don't want to get in to what that cost me. You could buy a Monster antenna and run it yourself to get rid of the windshield mount, I ran mine it is very very easy. http://www.columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/07RadioSirius.jpg http://www.columbusdiscgolf.com/IMAGES/AntennaInstall.jpg
Nitrousbird
For those that don't know; if you have a fiberglass hood, you can mount the antenna in the engine compartment. I hate external antennas. That's where it is on my Formula and it works great.

At first I was thinking "WTF?" but once I thought about it, I prefer the windshield mount. I think it's better than having a blob on my roof/trunklid and the only downside is explaining to passengers what it is. Otherwise it's hardly noticeable from outside the car. silverhatch
Spaceghost- Before I begin let me mention I'm technology stupid, with that being said, let me ask you a couple questions. I have an 06 and it appears the radios in the 07's are different, correct? I would like to have a setup like yours, could I completely eliminate the Starmate that I have if I switched out the radio for an 07? I have my antenna mounted in the same spot as you do already. Is that the stock antenna that came with my Starmate or a different one you purchased on yours? Thanks. I guess I need to get "schooled" in this. I guess I need to get "schooled" in this. an 07 radio is completely plug and play with an 06, the downside is buying the sirius "brain" from subaru, because the subaru units are the only unit that will work with a stock 07 Clarion radio. Me and a guy in Cali pioneered the research on Nasioc. We tried a CL-3 from clarion, but it is wired different from the CL-3 from Subaru. Oh did I mention the brain from Subaru is $330. I don't go to many meets as I have a 11 month old daughter. I will be at the cruise for george though. Your starmate antenna would work though with the Subaru sirius brain. If you go this route, I will install it for you for free if you want, I live in Westervile, I would need you to come to my house because my tools are here and hopefully my wife will be here so she can watch the rug rat. The other bonus is the 07 Radio plays WMA/Mp3 cds.

Ouch 330, well maybe I'll think about trying it. I'll look you up if I decide to try it. I don't ever make it to any meets either. I have a 3 1/2 year old little girl and a 3 month old little boy. Also, my hubby who also is a big car enthusiast works Sat-Wed, which doesn't allow us to get out ever.

She would not be able to do the windshield mount in an 06 unless she bought the wire that goes from the radio to the a-pillar from subaru. Which means more markup money to Subaru. Her starmate antenna should work so everything would be plug and play.

silverhatch
I meant that we never make it to any COS meets because they are on Friday or Saturday nights. I am seriously considering doing this when Uncle Sam sends me some $$.

If you do, make sure you get the AUX jack and cable that goes to the radio for the AUX jack.

Maybe that was the "bracket" that took them two week to get so they could install my Sirius.
