JaSSon
I've been playing with a Ubuntu 7.10 live disk. It just runs too slow and I'd like the speed and persistance of booting off a USB drive. I followed this write up, but I can't boot off the USB drive. My bios says there it isn't a bootable HD. Is anyone familar with Ubuntu? Know of a way to do this? Also, i should mention that this command is incorrect: Type cp -rf casper disctree dists install pics pool preseed .disk isolinux/* md5sum.txt README.diskdefines ubuntu.ico casper/vmlinuz casper/initrd.gz /media/ubuntu710/ The correct command is ....casper/initrd.gz /media/disk/ Thanks linux geeks. 87GT
USB what? How do I bios? ¿que? You need to hit the special key at the booting screen. The one when your computer is just turned on after POST. Mine happens to be the DEL key.
JaSSon
Oh. My. God. I'm entering complex command prompts, creating multiple partitions on a flash drive, and editing MBRs. Did you seriously just tell me how to access my bios? Hey, is my computer turned on? Sarcasm eludes all of you. And yes, my lappy is USB bootable, and yes I've edited the boot order. 87GT
Did you try formatting your USB stick in another program like "partition magic", then dump the ISO to it? Why don't you try it and see if it works?
