I found this on SVTperformance

"Aftermath @ Lakefront" New Orleans

Guy in his cobra decided to nail the gas when leaving the event. He lost control for a bit, but just kept on going. Then he jumped the curb, hit a trash can, then the light pole and then spun out into the parking lot. When he got out he said "****" and started picking up his car parts. He told the cop that his pedal had gotten stuck and there was a recall on it. Sucks because he had said he hadnt taken his car out in awhile until recently.

yeah that sucks. if that is truly what happened, then i feel for the guy. my pedal got stuck, and i was able to throw the car in neutral and shut it down after a few seconds of rev-limiter action. it happens so fast, trust me. the only thing is that you really have to be standing on it to get it stuck--i was rolling away from a light, when i jumped on it in first (in the lane next to me was a certain blown LSx RX-7), i shifted into second and realized what was going on. he had to be like WTF, as i killed it and pulled over. i literally had to get under the dash and pull the pedal up. my car had a catback and intake, and i was getting smoked by the way

EDIT: for those that don't know, this is a well-known recall on ALL '03/04 cobras. the pedal gets button-holed through the carpet and gets completely stuck at WOT--you must turn the car off, the pedal will not come up from the floor, unless you reach down and grab it--you can't get your foot under it to pull it back up. it happened to me on the road, and at least one other local cobra owner on the dyno. talk about a potential for disaster--thanks ford

Never had this happen with any of the COBRA's I owned. Sucks....

Whatever happened to pushing in the clutch.... :slap:

like i said, on the street, it happens so fast that you're not expecting it at all. and if for some reason you had not heard of this problem, you'd be that much more surprised. i'm sure it could happen on other mustangs, but the recall was SPECIFIC to '03/04's---every owner got a letter in the mail pretty much demanding they take it in for the recall--which was to trim the carpet around that area, and bolt a bracket to the gas pedal so the protruding bolt could not go through the carpet (that used to be under it).

Little JB weld and some buffing and it'll be as good as new

Lol, that does suck, is there really a recall for sticking gas pedals?

I know my dad's really old cougar would do that because the motor would shift under hard acceleration and move the motor, pulling the cable...
