hpfiend
Yes, but mine does that AND tells me three bands at once, each with it's own signal strength inidicator I also have auto-attenuate Does yours tell you where the police are located in addition to showing how many there are- beyond 3?? IE forward, side, or backward? so you know if the threat is passed or still ensuing (sp)?
hpfiend
The lighter adapter has it's own set of indicators and a mute button. Can you turn off the main display and run just the lighter display? Like the V1 concealed display?? I know the original poster said I did not want the valentine but they are not overrated in any way- maybe slightly more expensive
87GT
Is there one out there that does not go off at every store yet? Mine talks...."KA alert"..."Train approaching"...."emergency vehicle approaching"...shit like that. Don't use cobra. I have stopped using them. Everyone I had one it gives false alerts everyday. I can not get a cobra to last longer then 1 year before it breaks. You seriously get what you pay for. Spend at least $250 on a detector. Escort or V1 for the win. SpaceGhost
So it looks like 9500i, V1, and Bel RX65 Pro is what I am considering. Love the V1 directional radar display, I need to understand the 9500i GPS thing better, (what happens when you mark an area and you get shot in that area?) I love the performance and price of the RX65 Pro. I need to see all of these in person, is there somewhere local where you can see a V1 at a store? MrMeanGreen
You can use my RX65 if you'd like. I don't need arrows. If it goes off, I slow down Yes, mine does have the concealed display as well
hpfiend
Ben are you going to the autox driving school or any of the points events this year? Mine is the old style which is larger but the overall construction quality and design is the same- I could show it to you if interested. I don't believe valentine allows anyone to distribute it other than themselves...

There are many different variables to the 9500i GPS feature. 1) False Alarm - On your daily routes if you find a spot that triggers an alarm everytime, you can mark it as silence. It records the exact frequency/laser/whatever and stores it. So if you travel in that area and a different signal is recieved the alarm will go off. 2) Speed Trap - If you recognize that cops like to sit at a certain location a lot, or a location like a neighborhood that you tend to speed in not knowing and just need a reminder. As you drive by the location you can mark it as a Speed Trap. Once marked the detector will warn you at (user customizable distances) ie 1 miles, .5, .2, feet etc. The device is firmware upgradeable and Escort is developing a future where users can upload there speed trap coordinates that others can download which is great for out of town travelers. I believe they are still working on it and trying to figure out how to prevent people from uploading random/bad coordinates.
Supplicium
Damn dude....$250 is ALOT!!! Not really, my $500 detector has saved me 3-4 times. At $100 per ticket along with higher insurance costs my detector has already paid for itself plus.

87GT
Damn dude....$250 is ALOT!!! Sometimes you can go to Marc's and pick up some tools for cheap. Then you can usually flip them for a little bit more on ebay. Shhhh it is a secret.
TTQ B4U
Borrow a 9500i, RX65, Plug in my V1 and let's go test drive a GTO that I'm looking at and see which one really works best So it looks like 9500i, V1, and Bel RX65 Pro is what I am considering. Benny
Ive had a V1 for about 12 years and it still works great. I love it and has saved me may times. You can also send it back in if they come out with any major upgrades or anything like that. I just checked my serial# on the website and says it doesnt need to be upgraded but there are some out for mine. It doesnt cost alot to send it to them and basically get a new detector. It performs great and as someone said before if it saves yo from a few tickets it pays for itself right there.
