tristanlee85
Is it illegal? I was installing my hood last night and I managed to let it fall off the car with 1 bolt half-way installed so the bracket is toast and the threads are stripped out. I don't be able to get it fixed until Saturday so...
Scotty2Hotty
Never seen a problem without one. Should be fine, I've personally never seen a law forbidding it.
Buck531
You'll just be labeled a ricer with a slow car who's looking for attention. Hell that might be able to get you some races with some Honda's or DSM's (remember the kid last year who kept showing up with no hood his 1G DSM?) boosted98gst
its not like hes, doing it for attention, its stated above what happened, hes jus trying to break his motor in, plus I dont know many saturns that make Tristan 1997 Turbo Saturn 262whp / 272wtq to be slow
DaddyBuiltRacing
I drove my stang for a few days with no hood man. Never had a problem. It doesnt state anywhere in the law books that you have to have a hood as long as you got headlights you can run without a front bumper if you want
tristanlee85
Yeh, not for attention. I would just like to break the engine in sometime this year.
ODoyle
I would call the sheriffs office and ask if there is a law against it
tristanlee85
Oh maybe I can take my timing chain cover off, paint the cam gears so everyone can see them spin while driving.

Avenger1647545502
Actually, I think it is illegal, or at least it was until recently. Probably something to do with keepin' them darn kids with their souped-up old jalopies from hot-roddin all over the town, scarin' the horses and whatnot. CbusBusa
The sherriff's office I talked to a while back told me it was illegal.
AJ
its not illegal, i asked my dad who trains police. i drove the camaro for a few weeks with the hood off because i couldn't wait that long to drive it.
baron_
I looked into this a few years back and was told it was illegal by every cop i asked. They don't typically write a ticket for it, but can technically get you for violations of safety laws, said them. They figured that one of the benefits of a hood is that blown fan belts or other engine parts would be relatively contained, rather than able to fly about and injure others (among other reasons) The laws in Ohio are written such that they're pretty flexible. A cop would probably have several options for writing a ticket - do you want to test a few of them in court?

Guest Removed
its illegal (safety reasons).....pending on the cop, you will get a warning or not even get pulled over. but if it was me tryying it in delaware county i would be arrested, and put under the jail. yellowsnake
no hood makes it soooo much faster. fast and furious baby
Sparky
The weight reduction alone makes it worth the ticket you might get.
tristanlee85
Well, I drove it tonight for the first time breaking the engine in. I didn't get pulled over, but wow. 3" open downpipe is a lot louder than my previous 2.5" open downpipe. Plus the cams didn't help much. Now it's time to fix the coolant leak, wire up the fans, get an alignment, then go blow it up.
81mercury
i drove my cutlass for 2 weeks with no hood while trying to find a problem

Kevin R.
Even if it is illegal I doubt most cops will bother you about it, unless you live in Westerville. (But you live in Grove City, and this is probably a regular occurrence there)
Buck531
i drove my cutlass for 2 weeks with no hood while trying to find a problem Yeah, but you live here Most of us live in a suburban area of Ohio and not cops that remind you of Rosco from Dukes of Hazzard.
