GM concedes "Gas-guzzling trucks are losing appeal"

They announced today that among other things, about 2500 workers in Moraine, OH will be out of a job by 2010. What's sad is that they apparently have no desire to use these bodies to increase production on smaller more efficient vehicles, instead they are simply trimming the less efficient products and not looking back. What might this bode for the already fast declining US auto industry as fuel efficient imports are seeing ever-increasing demand?

Though truck sales are declining they are getting better mileage than they used to, my dads 08' Sierra with the 4.8 and I got 23mpgs cruising at 80mph, not great, but not bad for a V8 truck especially at that speed.
