I always broke or lost cheap sunglasses and thought it'd be crazy to get a pair of expensive ones.. till I realized my insurance would give me up to $300, but now $200 a year I could use on sunglasses. Once I did get a nice pair I kept track of them and had them for years with no problems.

I had a pair of $250+ Oakleys stolen last year though. Currently I have Maui Jim Sports ($150) and really like em.

Can any of you explain what polarized does vs Non polarized? My Ducati Juliets have the black iridium lens in them, they have a scratch or two so I am going to replace the lenses, Oakley sells the Polarized Black iridium lens also for a replacement. I was also thinking of getting red lenses maybe also, not sure yet.

I went polarized, I'll never go back. The glare is cut down so much. This is especially true for glare on the windshield from the dash. I have also noticed that windshields on some vehicles, Rendezvous and Montana to name a few, are bright metallic purple when looking at them through polarized glasses. Anyone know why that is?

Polarization basically means that light can only pass through in certain directions. I can't say exactly why colors change and whatnot (off the top of my head), but it has to do with the windshield only letting certain wavelengths through, and the same with your glasses, adding up to a purple color. Also, ever noticed what happens when you tilt your head while looking at an lcd screen with polarized lenses on? The LCD also has a polarizer, so when your lenses match the polarizer in the lcd, the screen disappears.
