justcause
On Sunday the wife and I and some friends went to the Zoo before the wind really started to pick up and the power went out. Here are a few pics I was able to take before we had to leave due to the wind and power issues. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3712.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3715.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3721.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3725.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3735.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3737.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d60/moccabee/Zoo/DSCF3740.jpg

Mitch
Its in the Asia Quest exhibit, which is relatively new. Its a flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus) or Golden-mantled Flying Fox (Pteropus pumilus). It is a member of the bat family and eats fruits only. It can not echolocate like other bats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Flying_Fox

Though, I think the "ugly" bats are cool, too. I've actually caught a couple small brown bats when I lived in Texas as a kid. Kept one for a short time, it would eat and everything, but I let it go.
