gillbot
possibly Kaowool? I MIGHT still have some of that around here unless I tossed it after the move.
koolrayz
No it's nothing like that, we also have the ceramic fiber material (Kawool). This is more like four layers of a tightly woven fire blanket with a rubberized coating. Thanks for the offer though!
Guest Removed
so what happened to the motor at norwalk?
koolrayz
Threw a rod. I will have the motor out tonight. Not sure why yet. Looked in the "window" and the crank doesnt look like it spun a bearing where the rod is missing. Turbine wheel has some damage but looks like it will be OK to run. Just hoping the heads, lifters, etc are OK. I have another junk yard block I will try and get in the acid tub this week to clean it up. tomcowle
Good luck on getting it back together! Getting an engine blanket on it should be on the "to do list" as well, as quick as your car is it's cheap insurance.

koolrayz
I need to get motivated and finish the engine bay. Cold weather has been getting me down. I was having some cooling issues last year and went to a bigger radiator. Now I can use two fans and I made a nice shroud. Afco 27.5 X 16 double pass. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09166.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09175.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09171.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09172.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09174.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc122/koolrayz/DSC09176.jpg

mrtbolt64
Ray Just a heads up. I ran a two fan plus shroud similar to what you had done and it was still running a little hot. I ditched the shroud all together and put one fan on the outside and one on the inside. This helped tremendously as well with no t-stat
NTHER91
sEeing this gets me motivated to start on my car again I need to fix something that rob did wrong, like he didn't take out my heater core and didn't rip out my dash ( well I guess I could have asked him to but .....) Now maybe you won't have to hide behind me from little kids Ray... Haha

These fans are monsters where the one would blow last year the radiator would be cold to the touch. The radiator was a 12X23 shirroco style radiator. It was just to small and the residence time of the fluid in front of the fan was not long enough.
