Now if you flipped a fake color copied $5 to the hot dog guy, or a few fake singles to the McD's drive through guy, I doubt anyone would notice. There are some really nice papers out there that would easily pass off. Hell, even the cashiers at Kroger wouldn't notice. Anything $20 or higher is likely going to be marked with an special marker though. However, if you get busted, you're more than likely going to be Uncle Sam's bitch for the rest of your life....and with cameras everywhere, it wouldn't be unlikely that the FBI would bust you fast.
