I wrote a little tool that you can use to calc your top speed at any gearing,

usefull to figure out the top speed of your bike when regeared,

also usefull to calc a good gearing for you next bike, once you've found that optimal setup.

you basically just fill in the form with the gear ratio info from the bike service manual.

I have already prepopulated the form with a few bikes I looked up myself,

if anyone else has some bikes they would like to add to the list, just pm me the gear ratio's and I'll add them.

I usually just give the local dealer service department a call if I don't have a service manual, and have them look up the gear ratios for me.

I know there are some of these already on line, but I could not find any that were very accurate, so I made this one :D

Nice tool Brooks. I'll check it out when I am at home with me manual. I have the Haynes book for my bike, so I dont know if it has the gear ratios listed in it. It would be cool to see what my actual top speed it at my current set up vs. what my speedo says with the speedohealer

If you are bored you can add a 2001 CBR F4i, lol ;)

The 2008-present Ninja 250 seems to be pretty popular too. A lot of people might like to see the eager 250 get some attention in the eyes of potential performance upgrades. :rolleyes:

thanks, yeah I've seen that site, there's quite a few out there, but most of them are not very accurate, cumbersome to use, or just plain annoyed me, lol. I had been doing it longhand for a while, and got sick of it, so just threw this thing together.

The 2008-present Ninja 250 seems to be pretty popular too. A lot of people might like to see the eager 250 get some attention in the eyes of potential performance upgrades. :rolleyes:

yeah I can add those, hey if you have the service manual, pm me this info, its under (Gear Ratio) cant remember what section, but every shop manual has it in there.....

Primary Gear Reduction Ratio

1st Gear Ratio

2nd Gear Ratio

3rd Gear Ratio

4th Gear Ratio

5th Gear Ratio

6th Gear Ratio

Final Gear Reduction (I dont need the ratio, just the 48/15 number)

Redline RPM if it list it

Wheel Diameter in inches, or tire type ex. 140/70-17

I got a 2002 F4i Added to the list, I think the 01 and 02 are probably the same gear box and sprockets :D

1st Gear Ratio 2.833

2nd Gear Ratio 2.062

3rd Gear Ratio 1.647

Final Gear Reduction 45/16 or 2.812

Redline RPM if it list it 14500

I entered the data.

Good work man. My manual said different ratios for the F4i. And the top speed with stock gearing would never hit 173MPH. More like 165.

Hey I added the 2008 Ninja 250R, and a slew of other bikes too, lol :D

you know whats weird, the honda fiche shows the transmission on those bikes used the same gears from 99-02, in 03 the changed the transmission gearing.

Hmmm I wonder if the 03's are any quicker than previous years. I always heard 01 was the quickest year then they toned it down ever so slightly in 02

you know whats even crazier!!!, the 07 gsxr750 is may be the fastest production motorcycle, lol. faster than even the zx14, if both were at last gear, and at redline, and totally stock, the 750 would be about .3mph faster!, now we all know the zx14 would get to top speed quicker, but its just crazy that the 750 is stock geared for a higher top speed! this is using the rear tire dimensions, and sprocket, and transmission ratios, and redline info for each bike, lol.

07 gsxr1000 top speed stock: 197.306 mph at redline

07 gsxr750 top speed stock: 206.405 mph at redline

09 zx14 top speed stock: 206.129 mph at redline
