yellowsnake
its a 2001 pontiac ga. i just replaced the wheel bearings about a year ago or so but i think one might be going bad now. when driving the car its fine and then once in a while when your stopping, and at an almost complete stop it will act like the abs is kicking in. the service vehicle soon, abs and trac off light comes on. but not all the time, almost like once it gets warm
V8 Beast
Check the wheel sensor. Sounds like you may have a wiring issue. I had to replace my wires a few years back... did the excact same thing after the wire got pinched.
AJ
see if there is water in the connector, pretty common for that. if there is then get some dielectric greese it put in the connector after you have it dried out.
yellowsnake
would this cause the brakes to act like the abs is kicking on??
AJ
yes because the ABS is kicking in. when you get slow enough the speeds will just fall off to 0mph.

AJ
Oh nooo the wheels are loosing traction! not quite, the speed sensor thinks the wheels are locked up when there not.
Zach1647545520
not quite, the speed sensor thinks the wheels are locked up when there not. that's what i was trying to get at. I remember my right front wheel would fluxuate between 0-3mph when i was stopped. It caused by a burnt wheel sensor wire rubbing the header. koolrayz
I had a bunch of metal dust on the magnetic sensor that caused me a problem once.
kenny
Had the same problem... bought new aftermarket wheel bearings with wheel sensors included for less than a stock wheel sensor... no more problem. Like already said, it's most likely a wiring issue. Trace the wires to the connector and make sure they're not pinched. Or just pull the ABS fuse because ABS is gay anyway. Cordell
The wheel speed sensor or a broken wire is most likely the cause. I have seen many GM cars break the wire strands inside the insulation and can cause this. Usually happens where it passes across the pivot point from lower control arm to frame. yellowsnake
so i didn't find any burnt wires but there was a little water in the wires but not the connector. dried them out and still had the same thing so i said f@@k it and took the fuse out. is there any way i can get the ABS and the brake light to go off without tearing the dash apart? SRTurbo04
my 04 grandprix did this when i took out the traction control/abs fuze (one of those dam things) for at the track... lol might want to check threw them
Cordell
I unplugged the ABS module under the hood of my wife's Impala and the lights on the dash stay out. It's a POS so I don't care.
