Supposedly it came off a diesel locomotive but they never said one. The father of the guy that owns the car found it in a junkyard so they decided to throw it on the car for laughs. It actually did run with it, but just blipping the throttle once smoked the head gaskets. It was probably off an EMD 567, trying to find pics to confirm. Its compound supercharging , its mostly a show car thing , but in reality that type of set up can produce alot of horsepower because the top blower pressurizes the bottom blower and makes 20-30 lbs of boost off idle or more if overdriven. Same concept as compounding with turbochargers. In the marine industry the volvo diesals use compounding roots blowers on a/c like clutch compressors with turbochargers taking over at a certain rpm. It was part of a compressor set-up to quench tempered glass, but they changed to multiple squirrel-cage blowers a few years back, and it's just been sitting on a pallet ever since, along with a pressure tank and the controls.
