Radio Flyer1647545514
What is normal maintenance to keep up on bikes?
nurkvinny
Basically the same as cars... keep things lubed, filters cleaned, keep fuel flowing, keep spark firing, keep brakes padded, tires treaded, lights lit, charging system charging... nurkvinny
How often do you lube up the chain? I've heard 500 miles. I don't have a chain. And to be honest, on the 4 or 5 bikes I owned with chains, I never lubed them.
Radio Flyer1647545514
Well, I'd prefer to just to keep it a good habit. If my insurance rates are what my agent thought they would be on a sport bike, I might keep my starter bike a bit longer than I thought I would. Guest tbutera2112
Drive shaft. i just got a bike with a ds...any maintenance? i was also told to be careful cornering with it because the bike wants to lift in the rear or something?
nurkvinny
No worries on corners. The fluid can be changed via drain and fill plugs in the rear.
Guest tbutera2112
oh cool..thanks...how often should that be changed?
nurkvinny
What kind of bike? It is likely regular old 75w 90 gear oil. I would do it once when you first get it if you don't know the history, and then every 8-10k miles, or every Spring, whichever is longer. My bike says every 10k in the manual.
