So basically it soulds like there arent many "indash' units out...? I'll check out that USASpec site. Do any of you have an Mp3 set up?

I actually have a really good unit for sale! It's a Kenwood cd/mp3/wma receiver and I loved it for playing all my mp3 disks. You can skip around to different folders which is nice because I put each artist in their own folder. You can also make it play random or repeat for the entire disk or a specific folder. If you put info in your ID3 tags then it displays that info. The best part... it has an ipod port and usb port on the front so you can plug in a usb thumbdrive! If interested PM me and i'll send pictures.

I have a USA Spec unit in my car. It just plugged into the head unit where the 6cd changer would plug in. Works great, allows me to control ipod with steering wheel controls. It cost a little more but I found the steering wheel controls 100% worth it

Heres a pic of my setup. Although, the ipods in a different position now.

When I installed my setup, I wanted to be able to play the iPod thru my Eclipse as well as charge it. I used the following equipment to charge mine and connected thru the aux input on the headunit. Using the equipment below, I cut one of the power outlet adaptors, grounded one wire and ran the other to a 12v source. I then plugged in the iPod Auto Kit into the outlet. On the plug portion of the iPod adaptor, there is a 1/4" jack which the Monster cable plug goes into. The other end is plugged into the AUX on the back of the Eclipse. The other end of the iPod Auto Kit cable plugs into your iPod. This charges the iPod while it plays. Also, it turns off when you turn off your car

And I routed the iPod connector thru the back of the ashtray (where the iPod rests).

 That's what I’m talkin about!

The thing that I've found to be a PITA is that I have a Creative Zen Mp3 player NOT and iPod. And so many of the transmitters require an iPod or you have to buy a special cord/cable that cost 3 times as much to make it work for another type of Mp3 player.

BTW, Nice set up Tim!

You mean your ipod wasn't made by apple? Wierd (j/k). I'm sure I'm the only person who thinks this... but congrats on not having an ipod. :)

If you want a somewhat cheap route, you can find any head unit with an auxilary input, then just get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to tether headphone jack to aux in.
