Hell, in Swanton, OH the air force was doing prep work and even alerted the news stations about it so nobody freaked. Yeah my Dad also works at Wright Patt and has been testing the engines for the F-22 since the mid 80's. I'm not into meteor watching any more, but I used to use several radios on different AM frequencies of far away cities (depending on the direction I wanted to scan.) When you heard the station start to come in better you looked in that direction and usually could see the meteor that was causing the signal to bounce to you. Lots of fun. I saw this when it first happened and read a discussion about it. It's called something else (I forget what), but the 'cloud' you see, IIRC, has something to do with the humidity directly above the water. He is bookin it, though. Check out the Dayton Air Show this year. They have it in July every year, it's always humid, and you are almost guaranteed to see a vapor cone or two.
