So This is my last transmission in the VW it so far has outlasted all of the other ones, It made more that 60 passes on DR;s and I know this for a fact cause when I pulled the trans I cleaned out my car and the glove box and counted all my time slips:bangbang:

Here is what happens when you either

A, Beat the shit out of a o2j transmission

B, Torque the bolts that hold the ring gear wrong on the diff inccorectly

C, Have fun with all the power a car makes at 28 PSI

You choose cause I could care less, it was and has been worth it.;)

Sooooo Now Im on th hunt for another stock trans and gonna take this diff out and put it in the one I find. VW will prolly not see the track at all Ill just cruise around this summer in it while building the 7.

I wanted to sell the car a while back but the Time money and fun I have in this car could never be recoupled by any amount of money. I will live out of this damn car before I ever sell it.

So #7 tranny here I come.

Just get an 02m already.

The swap costs way to much, Not worth it. after almost 4k in a swap hell i cold save another 1k and buy a straight cut gear trans and thats not worth it. Only reason its like this is cause of the dragstrip everytime.

Now its going back to what I originally built it for. Slayin 600's and Lsx's

is it the same thing that breaks every time? and also is everyone else with vw having the same issue? I am asking cause i would be interested in engineering something cheaper than a straight cut gear set and sell it.

Why don't you cryo the gears and see if that helps? Might be worthwhile since the car is already down.

Its been gears, diff bolts, cracked casings and syncros.

the trans is a weakpoint in the VW world. Its known all over. No one makes a built o2j and if it is its custom and if its custom it costs as much as straight cut.

Im not worried. Its fun.

is your car still under warranty by mileage/years?? try taking it into the dealership just for shits. i had a fuel hose become disconnected on my cobra, and ford fixed it for free. i was in shock--i had aftermarket fuel pumps, boost-a-pump, different hoses, and larger guage wires powering everything. they didn't even question anything--didn't even really say anything about the car at all.

my o2m swap was 1600 bucks, these days you can get full swaps for less.

it was worth every dollar, i never broke a trans, and the o2m swap includes stronger axles.

Plus i sold all my o2j crap for over 500 to offset the cost. not to mention the o2m shifts waaaay nicer than the o2j.

the o2j will always be shit, even with gears they still blow up. There is reason the o2m is is 45lbs heavier, everything inside is much beefier, aside from the brass shift forks.

Well Ill still need a clutch and flywheel to hold the power my car makes on top of having these bildon axles cut for my car i wont get half for what i paid for them.

Not getting an 02m just because it weighs more does not make it better.

02j for life

not true. heavyer trans mean the internals are beefyer.

just like c-4 vs -c6

c-4 is lighter, and can be faster to a point, but its weaker than a c-6 in everyway!

granted a c-6 will rob power, but it will take ahellofalot more to break it!

now with the brass shift forks, maybe you are better staying with a o2j:D
