The idea is to make a car as cheap and close to "race ready" as possible for people who plan on using them solely at the strip. Seemed pretty obvious to me, as most everyone would replace or upgrade parts like exhaust, trans, wheels and tires...windows would likely be lexan, etc.

Honestly I would've expected a waaaaaay more gutted interior and a few other deletions, but whatever. I wonder what that costs.

that trans is there , but no shifter

no brake lines, no fuel system.. somethings i can understand, but to make thing work you are still spending the money.

Seemed like it would of been easier to just special order them reguarding auto/manual trans at least. Everyones to there own i assume. What is the retail on, what you get right there?

EDIT: Read Gearheadz 2nd post, so is it a automatic or 5-6 speed?

Its a 6-speed trans, harness is in the trunk, these cars are not for your average joe blow to walk in a dealership to go hey let me get one of them dragpack things. The doors are gutted with power windows, the windows aren't installed because they will most likely be painted by the respective owners.. Its the second one to be sold, this car was bought by larry griffith.

Estimated retail was 17-20k IIRC, they most likely sold for more than that. Sure you can buy a new base model for around that, but you won't get the motor, modified trans tunnel, race rear suspension, race brakes, racing style harness thats plug and play with msd components, and the resale value to go with it. These cars will be worth big money one day, your base model challenger converted to a racecar will not.

untill you add the unavailability fees

so what did that one sell for?i bet it wasnt under 20k

and just think how much money could be had for parting out the base model, and atleast get it in the color you want.

Gay

thats what im thinking. at least the ford you can drive on your trailer.

or just buy a body in white, and build that

one thing i dont like (which they should have brought back with the drag packs) is the ability to Tag it, so you could drive it and brag" look biotchs, i got a drag pack"

The ford was like 70k out the door, this car was nowhere near that. :gtfo:

If you could buy your mustangs with all the stock bottlenecks missing for a fraction of the cost, would you? I think that's a great idea especially if you have a pile of money waiting to be blown on it.

uummm you can..its called a body in white. but all you get is a complete body, in white

Don't know yet, there have only been 2 sold at this point so numbers have not been spread. Like I said it was advertised for 17-20k when the prototype was built, so maybe 25-30k? It depends on what the owner wants to do obviously.

so depending on how you would want to build it, your still going to be out 50k and up. im not complaining, if i had mad lot, one would be in my overly large car building, sitting next to other projects.

but the dodge would be in no rush :p

If I got one, I would freeze it, bury it 300 feet into the earth, wait 40 years, sell it for millions.

no see that why you buy 2. deep freeze one, the other one well, it come down to making money :D
