Cereal_Killer
I need to get the rear joint rebuilt on my lil sisters 2001 A4 1.8 drive shaft. Is it even possible to rebuild it or just replace it? Driveline 1 said they couldnt do it.

Cereal_Killer
Yeah, They have a PN stamped into it thats different from the shaft pn and I even found a new set of "CV Joints" on ebay but then columbus joint and clutch also told me it isnt serviceable. CRed05
Is this what you need? "This C/V joint replaces the front or rear joint on the center/main drive shafts on all Audi Quattro's. Make sure that c/v joint grease is ordered separately." http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/images/dis/7879/600/7879.jpg

Cereal_Killer
Thanks man, how does it come off the shaft? Looks to be pressed on. I got the snap ring but its still tight. Okay a BFH took the whole thing off the shaft but the joint is still pressed to the metal part that holds it.
CRed05
I'm not sure, I've never done it on an Audi. I tried searching but didnt find much. I did find a diagram and a rebuild kit for the entire driveshaft. http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/620driveshaft.gif http://blauparts.com/audi/audi_driveshaft/audi_quattro_driveshaft_repair_kit.shtml
Guest Removed
keep hitting it. if you have the snap ring off it should come off.

Guest Removed
take a drift punch or chisel to the area i circled . http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/audiforce.jpg best thing to do is make sure the inner shaft cant move. they come off. Cereal_Killer
Yeah I got it, well its back together now anyway, parts wont be here for a few days. Thanks again. One other thing its doing that I'm not sure about, the turn signals dont work, all the bulbs including the side markers work when you have the hazards on but when you try the signals the indicators flash once, really dim, and then stay off and thats it. Thats a relay. The relay sits directly behind/is a part of the hazards button. http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi/?imageID=4681&html=viewimage.html

Cereal_Killer
Yeah I got that taken care of, MAG sold me 2 switches for the price of one. Thats what happens when you print your parts labels in German and the parts guys in America have no idea a box has two pieces in it. As for the drive shaft, my sis decided best thing to do price wise was just get one from the junk yard.
