Guest Removed
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/91033784.gif at no time when the timing chains are removed and the cylinder heads are installed is the crankshaft or camshaft to be rotated. Severe piston and valve damage will occur. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise only. Do not rotate past position shown or severe piston and/or valve damage can occur. that is right form alldata why are you doing chains? appn88
cause we had a motor with a chain snapped, and valve damage so we are replacing the heads
y2k2gt
Turn the the crankshaft so the keyway is facing 9 0'clock. That will put all of the pistons below the deck. Then install the chains. You will need to turn the cams a little to get the chains on right, but with the crank being a 9 o'clock you won't have any ptv problems. It should look like this. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t165/y2k2gt/103_3911.jpg
