evan9381
so since i finally got some money ive been waiting on since mid april, right away, i jumped into spending it and doing some projects on the house ive been wanting to do. project = turn 2 small bedrooms into 1, and make a LARGE closet. rooms were both 11' 4" deep, room 1 about 8' wide, the other about 11', and there was a closet wall seperating them. room 1 - http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2695.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2698.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2699.jpg?t=1247460229 room 2- http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2702.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2703.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2704.jpg?t=1247460229 sorry...not many progress pics...too busy working trim/flooring was first to go. wall was next. got electric out of the way from the closet wall. framed out a wall to wall closet for 2 24" doors, which will be nice for the both of us to have plenty of space... next up was the door to the room...the original plan was to keep one door, frame/drywall the other. well, while sitting there looking at it, one small door wouldnt look right in the hall. so we decided to put a couple 2x6 beams up on jacks to support the load bearing portion of the wall, and frame out a door frame for 2 24" doors. got the drywall hung today, closet in and out, door in and out, all we have left is the ceiling where it came out from ripping the wall down, but we're saving that until after the electrician (thanks Chad/GTPnLS1) comes tomorrow. going to put in 4 6" recessed canister lights, and a ceiling fan in the middle of the room. i was almost able to get it centered, but not quite. i wanted to go 1/2 way between the windows, incase we ever decide to put the bed that way, its not off center. but the closet wall is only 6-7" from the right window, and the other end its about 20" from the left window. oh well, it wont be horrible heres a couple pics of where we're at. still need to mud/sand all the walls, which im not looking forward to (i hate mudding/sanding. ugh)...you can see on the floor where the closets used to be framed out. carpet guy came today and as soon as we're finished with everything upstairs, he should be able to get a crew out in about a week to install all the carpet. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2706.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2711.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2712.jpg?t=1247460229 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_2713.jpg?t=1247460229 and before it gets said again, i know going from a 3br to a 2br is going to lower the value of the home, but the tiny rooms we have just arent realistic. i would much rather have a big room with room to move around then the cramped ass space we're in now. evan9381
update - once again, fuck drywall. fuck mudding it, fuck sanding it, fuck mudding it again, and sanding it again. i mud over tape, and sand to get it smooth, and i get a bit of tape, and rough spots. just a big PITA. i emailed a guy from CL who did it and he wanted $300 just to mud/sand. i hate doing it, but not enough to pay that much! ive got to get the ceiling sanded a bit more, and hoping to stamp it tomorrow night. there are still some imperfections, but i figure if i can get it about 90-95%, the texture will hide the rest. if any more mud/sand needs to be done, im hoping my g/fs dad can knock it out while im at work. friday night i have to paint the room, because carpet should be here saturday early afternoon. then hopefully i can get all the baseboards in, doors hung, all the trim work around the doors done, ceiling fan hung, and everything moved in so much for this being a "3 day" project my g/fs dad claimed...lol

TimTaylor751647545500
Plus, once it's done, you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. That's how I felt about my bathroom remodel anyways. A few weeks of PITA drywall will be worth it once it's all done. It does look really nice though. The kitchen looks great too. evan9381
update - thursday night, ceiling stamping didnt work like we hoped...from where the popcorn was up before, when we mixed the mud/water/white paint, and rolled it on, and hit it with the stamp, it was coming right back off down to drywall. since we had to do ceiling that night, and paint friday for carpet on saturday, we said fuck it. just rolled paint/mud/water mixture onto the celing to finish it and cover anything else up. didnt turn out too horribly. not what i wanted, but on a time constraint friday morning on my way to work, carpet guy calls and says he cant get anyone out on saturday, and monday would be soonest. while im pissed, im kinda ok with it because this gives me a couple extra days. i probably could have done the ceiling like i wanted, but after seeing that my g/fs dad came over and did a 2nd coat, it looked better than thursday night. good enough. lol last night we went and looked at bedroom furniture to get matching stuff, instead of our bits and pieces. found a decent set we liked at a good price, so we went to find paint to match it up with. get to home depot, and look at one of the catalogs, and on the cover is a room with furniture the same color as what we're getting...get the paint colors from the book and get all our paint/primer started final sanding last night, priming, and cleaned up some mess. today we moved everything from upstairs to pull the remaining flooring up for trish (damreds) and be ready for carpet monday. started painting and got the 1st coat done. im pretty happy with it. the color is called "peanut butter", and its pretty damn close painted room - (sorry, crappy cell pic) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/0725091648.jpg?t=1248555973 and the furniture we plan on putting into room http://www.perduesinc.com/images/49000ML.jpg almost done!! feels good...
