Supercharged 07 Escalade

We finished up the 2 of 3 of the new Magnuson 1900 TVS blowers we have coming in this month. The first one is on this 07 Escalade. So far I really like the new TVS rotor design from Eaton. They still give you the down low punch that a roots would but dont build the heat like a traditional roots. The Escalade is on 7 lbs and the hottest we were able to get it on the dyno and on the street was 118* in the runner. The Mustang we are running the Roush TVS on at 10 PSI only sees about 126*in the runner and I just finished up a Hummer H2 with the Magnuson this morning that saw a max of 113* in the runner on 5 PSI with a itty bitty heat exchanger. The other nice thing is the TVS blowers still have a bypass for cruising so they dont ding the gas mileage as much as the twin screws.

Kind of an interesting boost line

 

The Hummer had a very similar boost curve. I think it is just typical of this blower at the lower pulley speeds and as speed increases so does efficiency which is why boost is rising at the top.

 

but what's with the top of the RPMs?

We stopped on the stock pulls up top where the vehicle quit making power. With the blower the power shifted upward so we pulled a little higher. There also is no smoothing applied to either of the graphs. We could make them look prettier by smoothing them.

 

It picked up 100hp up top by being pulled higher in the rpm range and 110 lb/ft down low on 6.2 psi of boost peak. I would say that is not too bad for the combo. The big thing is it makes power all across the board which is really what the bigger vehicles need.

I guess I was misunderstood a little bit about the upper RPMs, I was refering to the boost, but you answered my question. I can only imagine how much better the trucks feel with such a big and broad power increase.

Who's complaining? I just thought it was interesting how it jumped up at the end. If I had one of these trucks, trust me, I'd want this.

Brady deffinetly knows his stuff, but to put it in other terms. While both types can measure horsepower and torque, and do it with repeatable results, the load bearing dyno simulates the real world better. Plus as an added bonus with a load bearing you can do more than just make pulls, you can do road simulation, quarter mile pulls, and many other things. I've seen things done on Pickups Plus' dyno you just can't do on others.

Besides track times are what counts, who really wants to have a dyno queen? It's a tuning tool.
