shotgun
I'm thinking about picking up my first motorcycle. I was looking on craigslist and found a salvage title gsxr 750. As this being my first bike, I didnt want to spend a lot of money on it but at the same time get something that will be fun once I have more experience with a sports bike. Has anyone ever had any experience with salvage titles on motorcycle ? The seller said it was dropped but never laid down. What are some of the things to look for if I go look at it ? Any help would be appreciated guys.
straightouttalocash
It varies. Sometimes it's no big deal, as plastics and a clip-on can make an older bike a salvage title. Other times the damage was extensive enough frame damage was assumed and the bike may possibly have a wobble, etc. Regardless, it lowers the resale value a good bit, so for a _first_ bike I'd avoid it. There are plenty of great first bikes out there from under a grand on up. You can get a good FZR600 for under $2k. Hold out for something like that. If it's a later gixxer and the price is like $4k there are plenty of good bikes in that range, just as fast. Don't rush something like this. If you already bought it (I see I'm 3 weeks late) I hope it's great.
35RFTW
We sell a lot of salvage bikes at my shop. If you are interested in the process of getting it back on the road or looking at a selection of salvage bikes. Shoot me a PM.
