Grey Audi R8 Spotted

I seen one coming home from work the other day in the 500... I followed off 270 on the north east side and then onto 161 east, and pulled beside him to get a better look. Older guy, late 50's, early 60's or so. He yelled that mine was faster. He said "that has 500 horsepower right??" I yelled "sure at the crank!" He said "this only has 420!" I said "yeah but you're lighter!!"

Couldn't think of anything else to say. A GT500 faster than an R8. Couldn't believe it! Don't know what planet that guy was from.

Forgot to ask him if he would trade

He's probably right, they only trap in the teen's stock. The new 5.2L is trapping in the low 120's which is much better. I guess you don't drive an R8 for 1/4 mile performance anyway.

:)

With as efficient as those high end audi's, nissans, bmw, benz etc i'd much, much rather have a supercharger than a twin turbo. Id definitely sacrifice the sapped power of the supercharger than add resistance to the flow of air through the engine.

If you can't tell, I'm the type of driver that likes my cars to breathe as best as they can. I think the most unrestricted air patterns work, and drive better. I don't know if you have ever driven a supercharged car that is tuned so nicely that it feels like every ounce of air that is being sucked in, is being forced out the exhaust with little restriction but its by far the most amazing experience ever.

The power you lost turning a supercharger is greater than the power lost because of the restriction in the exhaust. Its pretty common knowledge that you can make better power from turbos than superchargers. I have been in a 1000HP supercharged car, the nice thing about it was that there was no lag, but I'm sure that if that supercharger was a turbocharger, it would have been a greater than 1000HP car, and there are ways of getting rid of lag. But to each his own.
