BradyPPC Posted August 16, 2009 Report Share Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) We had our first 09 F150 hit the rollers today. It was an extended cab 5.4 3V 4x4. Baseline was with a Magnaflow catback. We then added a K&N Cold Air Kit and commenced tuning. All tuning was done on 87 Octane fuel. This truck ran really lean stock and really liked the fuel at wot. We see those kinds of numbers out of the 05+ 3V's pretty consistently but wasnt sure what to expect with the 09. So much has changed with the 09's that it isnt even funny. The new trucks are using factory widebands pre-cat. Commanded fuel is all in lambda. All our data collection from the wideband for tuning is done in lambda at the collector. There are separate tables for both gasoline and e85 and it can correlate based on ethanol percentage. Stock both are set to the same equivalence ratio for wot and have minor differences for cruise. Do an intake and exhaust really do much or is most of the power all yielded from your tune? The intake and exhaust can help a little but most of it is in the calibration. Any intake on an 05+ is going to require a tune as the slot style sensors are really sensitive changes in intake tube design and airflow across the meter.
