Casper
So I've been debating the best way to carry my camera on long rides. I decided to take my tank bag, get a piece of foam, cut to fit, and cut out spots for my camera with a lens on it, and a place for an extra lens. I bought the foam from JoAnn's. It's 4" thick, and cost me $17.75. Here are the pics: The foam before being cut to fit: http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308443787_50608759_32605831_2967043_n.jpg The foam roughly cut to shape, in the tank bag: http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308453767_50608759_32605833_4220872_n.jpg I took a marker and quickly traced the camera and lens: http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs171.snc1/6409_553308468737_50608759_32605836_4652785_n.jpg I used an extremely sharp kitchen knife to cut out the spot for the lens and checked fitting: http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308478717_50608759_32605838_4852715_n.jpg And the final product: http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs171.snc1/6409_553308533607_50608759_32605849_6918778_n.jpg http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308543587_50608759_32605851_6755327_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308548577_50608759_32605852_7346303_n.jpg http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs191.snc1/6409_553308553567_50608759_32605853_2468074_n.jpg http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs171.snc1/6409_553308563547_50608759_32605855_7572861_n.jpg I know, I'm not very good at cutting straight lines, and I know you can still see some of the marker. I don't really care how it looks. I was going for functionality. It holds the camera and lens quite snuggly. I'm happy with the results and figured someone else might want to do this. It's cheap and easy.

Buckeye1647545503
did you cut it all the way to the bottom? is the cam gonna be vibrating on the tank?
Casper
did you cut it all the way to the bottom? is the cam gonna be vibrating on the tank? Nada. There still quite a bit at the bottom. Plus the bottom of the tank bag is padded as well. I don't think there will be enough vibration to cause a problem. Buckeye1647545503
maybe cut a small spot to stack quarters for tole roads so you don't have to dig in the leathers... just an idea

Casper
maybe cut a small spot to stack quarters for tole roads so you don't have to dig in the leathers... just an idea There are several pockets on the tank bag also, but I don't think we'll be taking any toll roads. I plan on cutting a spot for my phone though.
