zeitgeist57
Guy has a rebuilt 400 bored .030, a new 650 double-pumper, and still has a really rich running engine. Starts and idles like a champ...no ticking on cold start, and the spark plugs are wet after less than 100 miles. Any help would be appreciated. I thought his electric fuel pump (unregulated) is pushing too much PSI, causing fuel to run past the carb needles and floods it?
Guest Removed
what fuel pump? fuel pressure is the first thing to check. then checking the float levels. but if plugs are wet, then i would also say check compression aswell. if the rings havent seated, you can compress the gas. have also seen the timing being out of wack cause this. zeitgeist57
Could worn valve seals cause an oily, rich smoke? Or would there most likely be valve tick to go with it?
Guest Removed
could yes. pcv valve stuck open can due that as well
1qwk767
Throw an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it, and id also check the pcv valve as well.
