What'd you do with my old cam? got destroyed when I spun the rod bearings. what erik said...see the ls motor oils the cam area first, then oils every thing else from there. (unlike most other engines where the mains get oil first.) cam journals where ok, but most of the lobes had heavy signs of pitting http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/red%20mess/100_3024.jpg thats one of the better ones. some of the lifters just came apart as they came out. and since the cam was the only thing getting oil, the mains/rods suffered badly. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/red%20mess/100_3039-1.jpg you'll see here, that one of the rod bearings was over lapping itself, and pretty much spun. tearing up the crank, and rod http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/red%20mess/100_3041-1.jpg some of them starting finding there way out! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/red%20mess/100_3038.jpg the black on the rod caps is from all the heat found tons of metal in the pan and on the windage tray http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/red%20mess/100_3034.jpg there was only 2 quarts of oil in this thing when it was drained , most of it had metal (bearing's) in it. and most know these are bad about sucking oil into the intake stream, which it did show some signs of. but im going to stop there...figured most would love to see the destruction pics..lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Removed Posted October 18, 2009 Report Share Posted October 18, 2009 those valve covers look pretty good:D just wait till we are done... its back in the car, and im working on rerouting some things, moving the radiator forward, and rewiring some things. and test fitting lots of stuff. have to order a few pieces to get the CIA going instead of HAI, cleaning up some parts and making things pretty and removing some thing that arent needed...really need to convert it to return style, since the car is, and the motor is not, and the fuel pump is dead heading into the rail.
