jeffro
found this on the wall earlier. this sucker was nearly 3 inches long as looked nasty. as weve all noticed, the bugs are making their ways inside out of the cold http://lh4.ggpht.com/_zt1IrYTCrOo/St-yaldCO-I/AAAAAAAAAGI/o-pZ5HXk4LA/s800/2009-10-21%2021.12.38.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_zt1IrYTCrOo/St-yNJYo4cI/AAAAAAAAAGE/VpWW4CL5R-0/s800/2009-10-21%2021.12.55.jpg
TheHaze
It's a centipede. You probably have hundreds of them hidden in your walls, under your house etc. They're around all year, you just haven't noticed for some reason. Also, that centipede has probably preyed on several smaller bugs that would have been in your house, otherwise.

ImUrOBGYN
I think I covered a thread on these awhile back. Common house centipede. The turbo'd, lifted centipede of the centipede world. Voracious eaters of other insects. One of the few reasons I have so few spiders and other bugs in my garage. When I do find them in the house, I generally throw them in the garage or just outside. Pretty harmless to people and non-aggressive. Very active at night. Over the last week, on separate occasions, I've actually found 3 little babies in my bathroom sink. Barely longer than a grain of rice. Scooped each one and out to the garge they went. I've kept a few as pets, too. They really won't attack each other but any other bugs or spiders I find, they usually dispatch of promptly.

Main3s
I saw a HUGE one in my crawl space last weekend. Not goann lie, it scared the shit outta me. I screamed like a little girl. It was on one of the rafters right by my face and about the same size as the one above next to the pen. Or at least it seemed that big 3 inches from my face. After I screamed and smacked my head on the rafter, I started punching at it. Thoes fuckers are fast.
unfunnyryan
House centipede. They usually leave people alone, rarely biting, but they can leave minor bites. They are creepy, yes, but they are eating all the other bugs in your house. Generally if your house is going to be infested with bugs, these ones aren't that bad. ImUrOBGYN
speaking of island bugs. found this little guy on a little island just east of puerto rico. http://i34.tinypic.com/hvwc5s.jpg You should agitate it, rub on your body and lick it. An excerpt: The millipedes' secretions induce an excited state in the monkeys that lasts up to 30 minutes, kind of like how cats react to catnip. ''They bite the millipedes, then reach behind their back and rub it on their fur,'' said Evans, who added that the behavior is natural but rarely seen. ``Their eyes glaze over and they're completely focused on what they're doing.'' Last week, one monkey shared a millipede with four family members and the entire family turned into a ``writhing mass.'' ''Could it be we have stumbled upon an ancient primate form of hallucinogens?'' Hoffman said. ``Who knows?'' And a vid: On this episode of Animal Planet's "Fooled by Nature," on the island of Madagascar, the black lemur find the bug repellent properties of the millipede to be both anti-parasitic and intoxicating. http://animal.discovery.com/videos/fooled-by-nature-medicinal-millipedes.html
