BDHG940
Well tried to push it a little too much I guess at the track and ended up leaving with parts of my block and piston in my back seat. So now Im parting things back together and going to do an aluminum Mach 1 block I picked up, Cobra crank, not sure on rods/pistons yet, 04 complete Cobra heads, T56 tranny, return style fuel system, etc. Not going to get too crazy with the setup but it will leave me plenty of room if I want to go a little more crazy with it down the road. It sucks for sure having to do block and heads since they were trashed but I should have just built the bottom end a long time ago. Im going to just keep the 70mm on there for the mean time and just see what we can make with it DESTRUCTION PHOTOS, very graphic #3 http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/missingpiston.jpg #4 I have not pulled the piston out yet http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/missingpiston1.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/blockhole1.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/blockhole.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/rods.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/rods2.jpg I guess this is what a motor will do to a piston/rod when its around 6000-6500 and something not good happens http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj77/on3p/oilpan.jpg

DTM Brian
Gotta love Stock Mod Motor Rods. My guess is that chip in the piston came from debris from one of the other cylinders. Other then that the top of that piston looks ok.

wagner
On the KoolRayz scale of motor destruction that is an eleventeen. Sucks but now build it bigger, faster, and more angry
Benner
I don't see a problem with the block. That's just better ventilation for the PCV system.

jeffro
Ouch Chad, sorry to see this. This is a fine example of pushing too much boost with stock internals. Was this in the green 01 cobra? Those rods are bent to hell. Time for some Manley upgrades. Best of luck with the rebuild. Crank the boost up to 15 psi once shes back together. BDHG940
I pulled a lot of metal from 3 and a lot was melted to the head. It's hard to say but 3 didn't cause 4 to go out. I mean I could be wrong but I don't see why that would snap a rod like that. Oh well it will be back out shortly and making quite a bit more power as well
