Rally Pat
Quick update. Waiting on Bill for the heads, then I can get this rolling again.

Rally Pat
Oh, ok. I saw you said as a piggyback. I was confused. I could set it up as a piggyback if I want to, I haven't decided. They recently figured out how to get Subaru's to run off of it though, so maybe I won't go that route.
tristanlee85
What trigger wheel do you have? I know the 6/7 wheel is supported. How would you piggyback it though? It isn't capable of taking signals and modifying them like, for example, an SAFC does. I guess that's what I consider a piggyback anyway: modifying stock ECU signals. Rally Pat
I would use the 6/7 wheel.
tristanlee85
Sweet. Let me know when you start playing with it. I run the MS2Extra 3.0.3 code on my car using the EDIS. I'd be interested in knowing the working of a Subaru.
Rally Pat
While I am in here... Here are the pictures of the heads I got from Bill. As you can see, one of the rocker arms is busted, but Subaru designed them to be individually serviced, so I should be able to fix it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/8b183d86.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/5242e6d2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/5ea2dd5e.jpg Hopefully it won't be long before I start assembling everything, but I may be between jobs soon so that could slow things down, even for a budget project like this. Rally Pat
Ok, ECU is here. I got a killer deal on this. Paid $120 plus shipping. He included two GM sensors, coolant temp and something else, IDK, I am probably not going to use them. I was kind of hoping it was a PCB V 3.0 or higher, but its a 2.2. Thats fine, I will just have to be more careful with my wiring. This is a Megasquirt I, on a PCB version 2.2. It was installed on a DSM, so I may need to take out the jumpers and such for that setup, but thats no big deal. I may upgrade the processor to a Megasquirt II, I don't know yet. Not quite to that point to worry about it, but here are some pictures. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/32c7bd07.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/a6b70f7c.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/4f9ebb6d.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/40d99930.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/4ef0dab7.jpg
Rally Pat
Been a while since I updated here, been doing it on COS though. Slight change of plans. Going with SOHC EJ25 heads instead of the poorly flowing EJ22 heads. The heads came from Nathan on COS, off of a 2.5 RS. This will also let me run factory dual port exhaust components, which is awesome, because we though we were going to have to use the F word (fabricate). I do need to get a WRX crossmember to make all that plumbing work, though. I will be running them with EJ22T head gaskets, which will give me a fairly low compression ratio, but I'll live. I am also going to be running a TD04 for nice quick boost, and should be picking that up here from someone soon too. Tristan has been helping me sort out the clusterfuck that is trying to get Megasquirt running on a vehicle that it hasn't been installed very much on, and I am very grateful for him taking the time to answer my questions. You rock man! There is a rumor that they have decoded the factory crank trigger wheel, which would mean I won't have to graft an EDIS in or anything, which is good. I should also be picking up the MS2 processor board from him soon, too. Just have to get a moment to do it. Still trying to find a shop in Columbus to fix the rust spots for a reasonable price. I don't need paint matched or anything, I just need the rust fixed and primered over for now. If you know anyone, please tell me. Here are some shots of the heads ratchet strapped to the block for pictures: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/6ddce970.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/daa3cb37.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/aa0a4d4a.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/731aae26.jpg The Intake manifold and crank trigger wheel are donated parts from ZB on COS, thanks man! So awesome of you to do that for a guy you met 5 minutes ago. LOL Picking up more need parts from Byers today, like the head bolts and timing belt. tristanlee85
Do you know, is this the timing chart? http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/Ignition_Pixs/subaru_6_7_timing_chart.gif

tristanlee85
So how many teeth are on the crank and cam wheel? 1 missing tooth? Multiple? 1 or more additional teeth? Do you have a picture of either wheel? Do you plan on a sequential setup?

tristanlee85
Well, you are shit out of luck then. No decoder has been written for truck bed liner pulses. Stick to your 36-1 and 60-2 wheel.
Rally Pat
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/b55c7fad.jpg This is the cam wheel with teeth from the 2.2 head, I cant show you the 2.5 one because its on the head, but the patter is the same, I checked. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/51705251.jpg This is the back of a newer crank trigger wheel. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/2cd71497.jpg This is the one that came on the 2.2, pretty sure they are the same pattern. Also, here are the rest of the parts picked up today, including a new timing belt and tensioner, and the head bolts. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/MegamanEXE/Subaru%20Swap/ee82ff3f.jpg

tristanlee85
I am guessing that's what they mean by the "Subaru 6/7" wheel decoder - 6 teeth on the crank wheel and 7 on the cam wheel. I will confirm with the developer and let you know.
