KillJoy
Clone the HDD via Ghost. Do you have another HDD that is the size of the total amount of data on your HDD? KillJoy
excell
I propose you should post the question entirely to get the benefit of differing opinion through open discussion.
Evolved8
Is there a way to recover data after a System restore on windows vista? The geek squad guy says there is but he said its very time involved...
unfunnyryan
Is there a way to recover data after a System restore on windows vista? The geek squad guy says there is but he said its very time involved... You mean recovering from a restore point? There shouldn't be any data loss, it just restores system files. 87GT
Did you delete some hard to find porn and need to restore it?
KillJoy
Has your computer already been restored to the Factory Shipped condition? Are you wanting to backup data BEFORE the above is done? If you have ALREADY Restored the HDD to the Factory Condition, you need Data RECOVERY, not Data Backup. KillJoy
GSXRAntwon
Did you delete some hard to find porn and need to restore it? something of that nature
87GT
something of that nature You will need something like this http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/data-recovery-software/ If you are cool enough you can find the program for free. Note using a data recovery program could take hours and hours to recover everything.

Evolved8
Well what happened: The computer poped up a "norton" window it said your computer is at risk, I clicked, It started downloading and renewed subcription, however it was a bug itself. Computer got real slow and started giving me Courrupt error messages. And the next day nothing could be clicked on followed by the Blue screen of death. A geek guy looked at it, Tried to restore with a disk startup? nothing, He took it to his shop, said he could not recover data, The hard drive was corupted but he saved it, And wiped my computer back to factory settings. However i had alot of data: -service manuals -Pictures of all my cars i have owned etc. (mostly things i just cant look back on without pictures. No money value. -Adobe Photo shop (use often) So can i get this stuff back? He said yes.... -
KillJoy
but he saved it Where did he save it to? How did he save it? I do this stuff on a daily basis. Depending on what he did, you might not be bad off. However, if he is a hack.... you might be fucked. KillJoy
87GT
If the problem really a corrupt hard drive then you need to use some tools like I linked above. With corrupt hard drives you may or may not get the files back. I would not hesitate to buy a fresh new hard drive so this doesn't happen again.
