zeitgeist57 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 In this day and age of advanced technological achievements and dreams that span the globe and our known universe, Groundhog Day is, by far, the stupidest "holiday" ever. But....I love it. Thousands of people descending on a small PA town to get sloppy drunk and watch a groundhog make a very inaccurate prediction of the weather...if he's aware of what he's doing at all!!! Having gone to college in PA, I remember fraternity brothers skipping classes to go to Punxsutawney to party. They swore it was a blast, though I never went. If you lived around there you would understand why they make a big deal out of it... There isn't shit else to do . Srsly, the first week of hunting season the schools are out. I remember it as a kid and even though there is no logic behind it, it's a fun tradition to keep going with. I went to Utica High School, and we didn't have school the first Monday of deer season.
