CRed05
http://apple.slashdot.org/story/10/02/16/160241/Apple-Bans-Jailbreakers-From-the-App-Store "Adam Mills writes in the Examiner that Apple has been cutting off access to the iTunes App Store for iPhone hackers and jailbreakers. Sherif Hashim, the iPhone developer who successfully hacked the iPhone OS 3.1.3 and unlocked the 05.12.01 baseband for iPhone 3GS and 3G devices, discovered he'd been cut off and twittered: '"Your Apple ID was banned for security reasons," that's what i get when i try to go to the app store, they must be really angry.' Another hacker, iH8Sn0w, who is behind the Sn0wbreeze tool, confirms that his account has also been deactivated even though iH8sn0w's exploit had only been revealed to Dev Team, the group responsible for the PwnageTool. 'It is kind of surprising that two people associated with jailbreaking have had this happen to them so soon after one another, but it's too early to say if this is a campaign that Apple is starting up,' writes Mills." RedRocket1647545505
So what exactly does jailbreaking take away from Apple?
SpaceGhost
So what exactly does jailbreaking take away from Apple? Just about every app has been hacked and can be had for free. Apple is doing it for the Developers. They are the ones losing money not Apple. Well a little, Apple gets 30% of every download, where as the Developer gets .70 for each dollar. When you create an app and some douchebag hacks it and puts it up for free, they lose sales. It's no different than robbing them on the street. It's theft, you can try to defend it, but it's theft plain and simple.
GonneVille
in before Ms did the same thing with xbox live and hackers, you are a dirty hacker so deal with it. gay XBox Live is a totally different type of operation. With game hackers, you're talking about a hack that affects the way the game operates for OTHER users and takes away the level playing field that the game is based on. With the iPhone, 99% of hacks are to make the phone more usable for it's owners and don't affect anyone else. Apple's policy involving the AppStore and hackers is purely to preserve it's own monopoly on software for the device. Droid and the upcoming MS WM7 have shown a much smarter business model of embracing open development by other companies and users.

Apple's AppStore policies are positively draconian, and developers usually see VERY little of the money from the sales of their apps. In fact, some developers have seen their apps pulled from the app store so that Apple can push their own equivalent app and not have to pay out even the small royalty they give outside developers. CRed05
MS and google having a better business model than Apple? Thats crazy talk. You do realize that all 3 of those phones, and at least another 10 handsets all run android right? So you need to combine them. Compare that to apple. Also keep and mind, with the exception of the droid, and maybe a little bit for the MT3G, there has been next to 0 advertising for them. I also noticed that for the android devices they are only taking American sales, where they were/are sold in other countries too.

And you can hardly compare opening sales between the FIRST 3G phone, and the later opening sales of a SIMILAR phone that came out in a saturated market. Wait a few years and see how the sales trends go.

Every time I install an app thats a paid app that I already paid for, it verifies that you paid for it through the Market, whether you install it through the market or from the SD card. I didn't say MS wasn't out for the almighty Dollar, but face it, gaming hacks are mostly about getting an illegal advantage over other gamers. That DOES affect the company's bottom line, because people don't want to play games where a large number of people are hacking their characters to near-God Mode. Almost 100% of people with a modded xbox 360 did it so they could play backups, or download games for free and not pay for them. You have to do some super hardcore hacking involving soldiering modchips and having really old 360 without the newest dashboard to even consider "cheating" in games. I am not going to explain it anymore because you would have no idea what I am talking about.
