Ok, I didn't see it posted here or in the link provided: is this an option for users on 1.6 with the G1 to upgrade? I see it stated as "Droid" but wasn't sure if it was specific to that or not.

Yes, these are DROID specific links/files ect. However G1's can be rooted and flashed with a myriad of roms as well. Just do some googling.

Cool. I haven't looked into this thoroughly as I really haven't had that much interest in doing it. Rooted or not, I'd just like to be able to get to a > 2.0 firmware. I see there are links stating the ROM has been ported for the G1, and I do see some performance draw-backs from it (at least what I've read), but it may be something to check out.

Uses a lot of stuff from Cyanogen's roms, Cyanogen is like the android mod god. He's been doing stuff for the G1 for a long time and has now moved on to the Nexus.

This one is Kinglicks Hero 2.1, he is also a very well known person in the G1/Nexus world.

Just search around that forum and you will find tons of Roms for the G1. Try the ones out that sound good and see which one you like best.
