Science Abuse
Group buy? Can anyone store this thing? http://englishrussia.com/index.php/2010/03/12/ekranoplan/ http://media.englishrussia.com/Ekranoplan_photos/70.jpg

Habitual Sinner
So... It can fly 3 meters off water and can't land on dry land do to no landing gear? Whats the point? I guess it does look cool.

I guess it does look cool. Cant operate in stormy weather either. It was just a military tech show-off peice, really. That's why it got funding. The idea of the ekranoplans was to cover open ocean distances rediculously fast (compared to boats), be nearly invisible to radar (at the time), and to deposit large payloads (compared to other aircraft. -It was low enough to be below terestrial radar. -It wasn't "in" the water, so sonar didn't pick it up. -Flew as fast as a plane. -Rode on a dense "cusion" of ground effect air, so less lifting surface was needed. The one in thos pics was fitted with missles because FUCK YEA, that's why! It was rendered useless by anything that wasn't perfect flying conditions. Linn1647545492
So it sat at the dock and looked pretty? You mean sat at the dock and rusted since
Habitual Sinner
You mean sat at the dock and rusted since 87 And somehow it still looks good lol. I think the group buy is a good idea. Then we can make it remote controlled and go blow some shit up in the middle of the ocean. And I say remote control because IDK if I would want to be in something with that much firepower that has been sitting for 22 years.

unfunnyryan
FYI: For the one in that picture, the slanted things on top middle section are VERY large missile launchers, meant to take out aircraft carriers.
