My DSM Build

Ive been working on this car for almost 4 years now, gathering parts, learning, making mistakes / fixing said mistakes, and finally in the last year or so i have gotten to start working on the car. It has been a slow process but it has taught me patience and the value of doing things right the first time.

The spec sheet for the car is something along the lines of:

1995 GST, 6 Bolt swap, bse, dsk 272's, aem cam gears, evo valve springs & retainers, mls head gasket, arp head studs.

Custom sheet metal intake manifol, BBK 75mm throttle body, tial style bov, 24x11x3 fmic, 3" ic piping, full 3" exhaust with 3" cutout.

2g trans with tre shotpeened gearset, kaaz clutch style lsd, fidanza lightweight flywheel, xtd unsprung 6 puck clutch w/ 2300 pp, awd equal length half shafts, AGX struts with ground control coilover sleeves, gsx big brake upgrade with slotted-cross drilled rotors, solid front and rear motor mounts.

12 gal fuel cell, -8 lines, twin 255 inline pumps rewired in parallel, afpr, bosch 1600cc injectors. Evo 8 ecu w/ evo scan, wideband, boost, oil pres, water temp, egt gauges.

The turbo is a stock evo 9 turbo with the improved compressor cover, i will be fabing a custom tubular manifold to fit the turbo, mbc shooting for 30 psi, megan o2 housing, all exhaust parts will be ceramic coated.

I have done a full wire tuck and fusebox relocation. Any wires that werent used i.e. emissions, abs, etc were depinned at the ecu harness and removed completely. The fuse box, injector resistor, power transistor, and main power block were moved to under the dash on the passenger side, battery moved to trunk with 2ga wire, ac,heat, blower motor, stereo, heater core, and ducting have all been removed from under the dash, removed all sound deadener, rear seats and all plastic removed, sheet metal door panels, racing bucket seats with rci 5 pt harnesses.

Once the car is running it will be getting an 8 point roll cage, some body work, painted Inca gold, and some rims possibly evo 8's.

i have done all the work on this car myself and spent many hours getting it to where it is now, being that it is almost done i figured it was time for me to post a build thread. Now on to the pictures.

Twin inline 255's running in parallel. WTF

they work fine like that.... but he would be better off y-ing them together in the tank...

or he could be retarded and put a mega pump inline and have a little 255 starving it....

A little update on the build

got the new seats and harnesses in, they are super comfortable for fixed back seats

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0210.jpg

Also did some powder coating on the turbo cover, intake manifold, and bov. In the pics they look a but mustardy but in person they are more of a gold color. Im also going to be doing the ic piping, intake pipe, and valve cover in the same color with polished accents.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0180.jpg

I also test fit my new manifold to see what it will look like, and i love it.

This is a custom built manifold with a huge plenum, bbk 75 mm tb, and internal velo stacks

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0198.jpg

and here is the intake after i powder coated it.

and here is the bov after powder coating

thats about it for this update but i will be sure to post more as the build nears completion.

Been a little bit since my last update, Since then the motor and trans has been put in the car and the rest of the wire tuck has been completed. Now all that is Left is to complete the lines from the fuel cell to the rail, mount up the turbo, a couple misc lines and brackets, and get the axle seals and axles in the car. Also the interior is in the car the only thing left to do in there is to mount the afr and egt gauge in the center vent.

Also the injectors have been changed from 1600cc to 1000cc, i re powder coated the intake manifold, bov, and fpr in a new gold color and the turbo will be upgraded from a 16g to something a little bigger :ninja:

Enough of the talking here are the pics

found out my trans was junk so i picked up a shep stage one then put my kaaz lsd into it

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0311.jpg

motor and trans ready to go in

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0316.jpg

Finally in the car!!!!

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/DSCN0317.jpg

thats it for now i have more pics of the final wire tuck and the uicp mock up and the new wheels and tires on my camera which i will post soon. Until then this is all you get. Enjoy.

Update time, nothing much, but i got the rest of the wiring under the hood done and all tucked away, the interior is all back in for now, and finished up my hood pins.

In this picture the only thing not plugged in that will be somewhat visible is the ait sensor that will go in the bend right before the throttle body, other than that every wire in the engine bay is hooked up and wired. Only thing left now is to finish the ic piping and get a turbo and mount it up.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/motorinstall054.jpg

I also need to finish powder coating my valve cover and some of the brackets and power steering lines to finish the bay along with mounting the afpr.

Also got the final trimming done on the front bumper for the fmic and finished up the brackets for the intercooler.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/motorinstall044.jpg

Its still quite dirty and missing my wideband and egt gauge but this is pretty much it for the interior.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/motorinstall063.jpg

And finally my custom hood pin set up. Its nothing major but i couldnt find a set of pins that i liked so i went down to lowes picked up the nuts for the pins, 2 cotter pins, and some 1/16" stainless braid wire and made my own set. Then i took some 22 gauge alum sheeting i had and cut out the scratch plates. All in all i think they turned out pretty nice, and all for about 9 bucks.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa158/turboking11/eclipse/motorinstall058.jpg

Thats it for now, now i have to come up with some custom top hats for the coilovers to get the spring height set correctly with the strut to actually drop the car.

Thats pretty damn impressive, goodluck on the build.

For some reason everytime i see a great DSM build they never seem to complete it.

Thank you.

Ive got about 4 years and more money than i would care to think about into this car, I dont plan on stopping any time soon

Good stuff, that color is LOUD :)

Any reason you went with an MLS vs O-Ring in the head/Composite HG?

Yeah, i like the color mainly because you dont see many in that color.

The mls headgasket with the arp studs is a great combo and has been proven to hold some pretty high boost, and being that i didnt have the block machined ( stock bottom end) it was the easier way to go. When i build the motor after this blows ill probably go with an oring setup.

Who is this in regards to?

pats16valve's distusting picture.

Your project looks to be coming along nicely. I'm glad you made the engine bay all black. It makes it look a little cleaner. Good luck with your project.
