Purchased $1,000 of BitCoin Saturday evening at $40,870 (approx). Coinbase takes 2% fee so i have about $980 worth right away. Just checked this evening and it's gone up $42,396 so i made that 2% back before the weekend was over. this is all just for fun so It was either buying this or getting into sports betting so... we'll see what happens.
  3. oooooo.... what about Jack Pee? wasn't he a thing? I was new when that happened but i wasn't about to kink shame an entire car forum for enjoying the golden showers on occasion.

odd question, anyone know what happened to them? After reading CR's impending doom i was curious to see what happened to cdsm and there's nothing there. i guess it's an old platform, not a huge following anymore, makes sense there wouldn't be a lot of interest. weird, i joined both when i was barely 19 years old and new to anything automotive, that was almost 20 years ago.
  6. yeah as long as i actually use it lol, but i think this is what we settled on. we'll call it an investment. I've always really enjoyed wood working, building little stool and shelves, etc... nothing too crazy but when we had the baby I had ZERO free time to invest into anything else. That's slowly getting better the older she gets though and I'll probably revisit some of the old hobbies I use to enjoy.
  7. If you're significant other gave you a choice of Christmas gift and you have $1,000 to spend, what would it be? Backround, this is about the amount we're spending on each other. Some years its more, some its less, but this is just ballpark. And I cannot think of anything i really WANT for Christmas. Sounds silly but i already have everything i could think of and don't really want anything. I've thought about a new rifle, maybe a squat rack or rower for my home gym, wheels and tires for my Taco but i might be getting rid of that in the next year anyway. Not that it will sway my decision at all , just curious what you guys would choose.
  8. this is really cool, I've only dabbled in some of the preset picture settings so far. This wouldn't surprise me at all. Of the two sony's I was looking at side by side the more expensive one just looked "brighter", I'm sure there was a setting on the cheaper one that would make it look similar.
  9. Ended up returning the 65" sony for the 55" LG C1 and don't really regret it. The picture is absolutely amazing. Watching CBJ games is much more enjoyable and watching just average movies on HBO looks ten times better. this weekend after i put the baby to bed I'm going to watch Dune on it. Probably could've gone with a 65" for that room but it just gives me an excuse to buy another tv next black friday and move this one to the den where the playstation is... the playstation that i currently never have any time to play anyway.
  10. So I had a $1000 budget I gave myself but I was still torn between the 55" LG C1 OLED for $1300 and the 65" Sony X85J on sale for $999 (the comparative 65" OLED was like $1799 so I wasn't going that high, and the X90J was still $1200 and the picture was very similar). I brought home the Sony tonight, still in the box in the living room. My wife said she thought it was too big, if she really hates it I'll see if i can swap it for the C1. Whatever I put in the living room will look ten times better than what we had but I hate thinking I should've gone with a different option. I hate making large purchases b/c I get analysis paralysis, I just need to make a decision but I always think I made the wrong decision.
  11. I use to go to the movies all the time but now that we have a baby I hardly go at all. So I'm willing to spend extra to get movie theater quality picture, or at least something high quality. Also, i want to get something that will have a great picture for watching hockey.
  12. Looking for a tv myself, shopped a few weeks ago at best buy and found a Sony 65" 120hrz for about $1200 but thought i should wait until closer to the holidays. I honestly don't even care if its Sony but of course thats what the best buy rep was pointing me towards. still looking around, but damn tv's have gotten more complex since last time i purchased one... a million years ago

    NFL 2021/22

I said it earlier tonight, either he refused to pay off the right person or someone had an axe to grind. Not saying his language was ok but someone went digging into the WFT's emails and didn't stop there.

    truck guy

im not shopping new, i purchased my current 2016 in 2019 before any shortages and prices have skyrocketed since then. I think i owe 19k and Carmax offered 27k. I'm kicking around the idea of a larger four door truck b/c the carseat barely fits in the back of my taco as it is now. if not i'll just hold on to my current tacoma.

    truck guy

Wasn't there a member who sold trucks/cars? Might be looking to sell my taco but only if i could find an equally equipped tundra or f150.
  16. A very anecdotal story but I was talking to a guy Friday night who's friend was car shopping. Found his car, used small SUV for $29k, while sitting in the sales office he's searching on his phone and finds the same exact SUV brand new and better appointed for $27k.... when he showed the sales guy he just shrugged and said "guess you better go buy it then"..... lol wtf?!
  17. Before i purchased my Taco i looked at FJ's, I've always liked them and thought that now they were getting a bit older maybe i could score a higher mileage one for cheap.... HA! no fucking way. The resale prices on those things are insane, i did find a perfect condition FJ but he was asking so much I couldn't justify it. Back to topic, My vote is the GX. Great vehicles, Toyota reliability, not sure how the aftermarket is. You'd think since it's a rebadged 4runner a lot of parts would be interchangeable? If you'd not dead set on it yet have you considered a truck with a cap? Or an Xterra? You could get into a TRD Taco in your price range, a decent cap would be around $1000. Or even look at Nissan Frontier Pro4x. I'll admit, the cab of my taco isn't the biggest though so it might not fit all of your needs. Xterra's would be a much more affordable option but lets be honest... the fit and finish of a GX compared to an Xterra? k Let us know what you pick up.

    OnlyFans

I heard a rumor they were preparing to sell and large banking institutions wont' touch them if they allow porn. Now, nudity or footie play.... thats a bit different. But big banks dont want anything to do with porn. I have heard there are some non-explicit "content creators" (musicians, artists, etc...) who use OnlyFans but yeah... mostly amateur pron.
  19. "love" might be a strong word, I really like the utility of the taco, it seems like the perfect size for 90% of what i need it to do but there are some things that annoy me, I always feel like the transmission is "searching" for the perfect gear on the highway for one. Why do you hate yours?
  20. Fellas thanks for all the great replies, we're definitely selling the jeep and putting extra cash towards paying off the Taco. I could sell both and take advantage of the used car market but in the end I would end up with the same or a very similar vehicle anyway, probably a Tundra or F150. I still can't believe Carmax is going to give us that much for the Jeep. Oh well, gimme my check.
  21. So we have a family car decision that needs to be made and what better audience to ask then this place. My truck: 2017 toyota tacoma sport 4x4, 85k miles My wifes old jeep: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4, 117k miles Wife purchased a new Telluride two months ago, she owns her jeep and we're about to sell it to Carmax for $15,000. I'm still paying on my truck for at least another 3 years, $430ish a month. Rather than selling the Jeep should we sell my truck instead? Seeing as how used truck prices are skyrocketing lately I don't see any problem paying off the loan and POSSIBLY making a bit of cash too (i would be happy with a few hundred bucks honestly). I bought this truck thinking I would have it for 10 years at least so i'm a bit attached. But after having one baby and realizing its not as big as i thought it was with a carseat and our lab in the back I'm thinking we may grow out of it sooner than expected. ESPECIALLY if we decide to have another kid. Financially it's probably the smarter move, my wife owns the jeep and the title is in her name so no car payment. However at 117k maintenance costs for the jeep will be more and more expensive and honestly, whats the total lifespan of a 2014 jeep GC? 150k miles maybe? Keep the truck or keep the jeep? What say you CR...
  22. i love shooting sporting clays, though I've only done it once and none of my friends seem interested in doing it locally. Had it been any other weekend i would be down (so long as wife and baby are good) but we've got a lot of family stuff going on. If you decide to plan a day in the future let me know. Mojoe will vouch that I won't shoot my own foot off at least.
  23. ok kinda what i thought but i didn't know enough about window tint to say for sure. And some of those cars she could order a base model of however then it wouldn't have the options she actually does want. Seat heaters, power windows and doorlocks, etc...
  24. Is this even possible? My Mother-in-law hates window tint and every car she's shopped for so far comes standard from the factory with window tint. She's looking for a small SUV or crossover so she's test driven CRV's, HRV's, RAV4, Subaru's, all come standard with window tint. Her current car is a BMW X1 that she had to special order without tint from the factory. I'm thinking her best bet is to stick with a luxury brand and special order the car. Unless there a company out there that can remove factory window tint?
  25. We moved into this house about 4 years ago, first purchase was new windows as the previous owneres (a flipping company) replaced the furnace with a brand new electric one. Our house is similar in size and our bills are insane. Also doesn't help that since bringing the baby home in january my wife wants to keep the house at 74degrees at all times for some reason.
